I was very honored that my father had the pleasure of inducting me into the society when he was President of ASOPRS; he presented the diploma to me at the Business Meeting in Las Vegas on October 7, 1988. I will just miss that honor with my daughter during my 2019 Presidency of ASOPRS. My daughter, Dr. Jamie Lea Schaefer, will be finishing her ASOPRS-accredited fellowship in June of 2019.

She will be the first third-generation member of ASOPRS!

I have always been on a committee, or served as the chairman of a committee since I was inducted into ASOPRS in 1989. After attending the ASOPRS Executive Committee Meeting for over 10 years as Chair of various committees, I recognize the time and commitment this position requires and am committed to representing ASOPRS in organized medicine, in collaborative projects with other specialty groups, and direct future policy decisions. I am very humble, honored, and excited to accept this prestigious position as President and look forward to serving our ASOPRS members. Looking forward to our great future together.
